Prediction
With both teams having a relatively low injury list for key players both teams will go all guns blazing in this exhilarating Quarter-finals first leg. With Liverpool in very inconsistent recent form and PSG winning all their last 4 games including a dominant 8-2 aggregate victory over Chelsea in the previous round. And it being at the Parc des Princes it could potentially be a long night for Liverpool. Over 100,000 fans agree as on FotMob predict over 50% of fans voted a PSG home victory. The bookies are also heavily favouring PSG to be win the first leg, with bet365 having odds of 8/11 in favour of a PSG victory and 10/3 for a Liverpool victory.
Both teams have big players at their disposal however. Liverpool players to watch would be their French front man Hugo Ekitike who has registered an impressive 17 goals and 6 assists in his debut season for the reds. Another player to watch for Liverpool would be Mr versatile, Domonik Szoboszlai who has arguably been Liverpool’s most influential player this season having an average FotMob match rating of 7.69. And for PSG the players to watch could be their whole squad, but to select a few they would be current Ballon d’Or holder Ousmane Dembele, with 16 goals and 9 assists in 34 games for PSG as he remains the main man in their attack. Another would be his attacking partner Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, where do you even start. One of the most pleasure on the eye wingers to watch in world football. He takes on his opponents with no fear of losing the ball and when he’s running at a defender its dangerous. With 34 successful dribbles and 31 chances created this season he could be a very big thorn in Liverpool’s side. That’s followed up by the Portuguese conductor that sits just behind them, Vitinha. Many consider him to be the best central midfielder currently and he can definitely create problems for any team, especially a Liverpool team that are conceding more than usual. Vitinha has created 34 chances for PSG this season with 7 assists.
My final prediction for the game is a 3-1 PSG victory
It’s a champions league knockout tie so expect Liverpool to put up a good fight however I think the quality of this current PSG side will overpower the determination from Liverpool and the hosts will come out victorious. Goals coming from Vitinha, Dembele and Doue and for Liverpool a Wirtz goal to close the gap heading into the second leg.
Other fan predictions: PSG 4-2 Liverpool
Another fan has again predicted for a home team victory. They predict goals from Vitinha, Kvaratskhelia and a brace from Dembele. For the travelling side he predicts goals from Ekitike and Szoboszlai.
