Yan Diomande is tearing up the Bundesliga this season with 12 goals and 7 assists as of writing, this current campaign.  

The 19-year-old is increasingly finding himself looking like the next young Bundesliga star likely to get a big move away in the summer.  

With a reported 100 million euro asking price set for the 19-year-old by RB Leipzig it will take a lot for Europe’s top clubs to acquire his signature in the upcoming transfer window. 

But what top clubs have been reported to have interest in the Ivorian winger?  

Liverpool

Firstly, Liverpool will very much be in the market for a right winger this season after the announcement of Mohammed Salah leaving the club after 9 successful seasons at Anfield.  

The reds are believed to view Diomande as one of the top targets to replace Salah next season, it’s been reported that Liverpool have already contacted Diomande’s agent with a potential move on the cards so it’s clear to see that the reds are certainly not messing about when it comes to getting his signature on that dotted line in the summer.  

Theres also good news for Liverpool fans as back in November Diomande stated himself that his dream and his father’s dream was for him to play at Anfield. He has however since gone onto say:  

“People made it out to be my dream club. But first and foremost, it’s my dad’s favourite club… I have a lot of respect for Liverpool, but my dream club right now is Leipzig.” 

However, there is a clear liking from Diomande with Liverpool, potentially even stronger knowing it’s his father’s dream club for where his son plays in the future.  

So, if Liverpool pay the money, we could very much see Diomande playing at Anfield for the reds next season.  That arsenal of attackers which could include Ekitike, Isak, Wirtz and Diomande could be an extremely intimidating site for opposing sides next season.  

Arsenal  

Speaking or arsenals, another team reportedly very interested by the situation surrounding the Leipzig winger is the gunners. However, Arsenal is looking for a new left sided attacker. Which is not Diomandes preferred side. This could very much influence Diomande’s decision, as it is highly likely he would not choose a move where he is played out of his preferred position. With other top clubs ready to deploy him in his favoured role, the tactical approach could prove decisive.  

However, similar to Liverpool it is reported that Arsenal have made contact with Diomande’s camp for a potential transfer move this summer. It is rumoured he is deemed a top target by Arsenal boss Mickel Arteta, and he admires the player very highly. It’s been reported that the gunners are willing to meet the price tag set by RB Leipzig and are willing to offer him a 500,000 a week contract. 

Bayern Munich  

Of course, with a new talented young forward from the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich would have them on their radar. This is no different with Diomande’s case. The Bundesliga giants are reportedly fans of Yan Diomande and its reported head coach Vincent Company is a fan of the young sensation. However, reports suggest Bayern are not willing to pay the 100 million euros price tag set by Leipzig this summer. Although they could see him as a potential Olise replacement long term amid Olise exit claims.  

Chelsea 

Chelsea is also a team whose name is cropping up within Diomande’s transfer saga this summer. The blues are rumoured to be planning an 80-million-pound move for the Bundesliga winger. They alongside their rival Premier League clubs Liverpool and Arsenal have contacted Diomande directly to discuss a potential move. The winger has openly stated he is happy and motivated by being linked with clubs like Chelsea. 

It’s also no shock that Chelsea could actively push for Diomande’s signature after appointing former Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso as their new manager as the new blues manager holds very high opinions of Yan Diomande and views him as an “elite modern winger”. This could suggest Xabi Alonso could actively push Chelsea to get the Diomande deal over the line in the summer.  

Yan Diomande has previously rejected a move to the West London club during his youth stating “he needs to play” but that was purely as he believed at the time Chelsea wasn’t the best location to develop his career as he chose Spanish side CD Leganes. So, I doubt this would have any impact on his decision in the summer or future transfer windows when weighing up the pros and cons of a move to Chelsea.   

Real Madrid 

It’s no surprise that Los Blancos want to sign young exciting stars. They have concrete interest in signing the Leipzig superstar but reportedly view him as a strategic target for the next summer transfer window instead of rushing in for him this summer. However, this could change. Amid links of an immediate Rodrygo exit Real Madrid will need to strengthen their right side of attack and Diomande may be the perfect option to accompany Mbappe and Vinicius.  

To further support this Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has stated money will be spent this summer for a squad rebuild. Although reports suggest they are targeting a midfielder and defender, but things could change.  

It’s entirely possible Yan Diomande stays exactly where he is this summer. He is confirmed to be very happy at Leipzig, and he’s stated he loves life in Germany. In the heat of transfer speculation, he’s made multiple comments that will be like music to Leipzig fans ears.  

He has stated on multiple occasions he enjoys playing at Leipzig.  He has also said how the club has helped him massively and helped his mum, so he feels the need and wants to repay them by helping them on the pitch. In a recent interview he was asked about his immediate future at Leipzig, and he made his stance on the transfer saga perfectly clear by saying yes to staying at RB Leipzig and ruling out forcing a move away from the club completely. He said; 

 “My contract runs until 2030, so I have four more years. I don’t know what’s going to happen after that. I’m a Leipzig player.” 

This is amazing to hear for Leipzig fans as they would hate to lose their winger this summer but by the sounds of it, he has no problem in staying exactly where he is.
